AVALON'S DRAGONHEART AKA: DRACO

Draco
Draco’s story is one that every breeder hopes they never have to tell. Draco was from my first litter and was sold to a person who was my neighbor. I spent more time educating this person and explaining my “ownership expectations” to him than any of my other buyers. He promised to follow thru with the care and training as outlined in my contract. Needless to say he did NONE of it! Draco ended up with an injury to his hind foot that this person failed to get adequate vet care for and he never provided any training for the dog (other than yelling at him) and the poor dog had little to no socialization. I guess it was a good thing that he was my neighbor as I was able to see all of these things first hand. I did everything I could to get him to step up to the plate and provide appropriate care for him. As always he promised the moon and never followed thru.

He eventually moved out of the neighborhood but called a few weeks later to ask if I could keep the dog for a few days while he was out of town. When I saw poor Draco I about died! He was in poor condition and the foot injury still had not resolved. He then showed some fear aggression toward a guest and that was when I decided I needed to take this dog back. I tried to convince his owner to give him back to me for the dog’s sake, but he became very angry and combative. That’s when I had to take legal action. Long story short, I had to hire an attorney and file in Superior Court for a Writ of Possession. This cost me thousands (yes THOUSANDS) of dollars! To this day I have not yet recovered financially from this. The good news is that we were successful in getting Draco back!! His new family is truly a Godsend! They have worked with him, put him in obedience classes and nursed him back to health. They love him and he loves them. I am grateful everyday that this story had a happy ending.

Here's what Draco's current owner had to say about him:
Draco kind of got off to a rough start and was pretty stressed when we got him as a rescue at 18 months old. Look at him now! Draco is the most playfully Rott we have ever owned. He lives to play, weather it's with the kids in the neighborhood, his best friend Roxie the beagle, or romping at the local dog parks. He's a comic and practical joker and we love having him.

AVALON'S ATOMIC DOG AKA: TANK

Tank was a puppy from my second litter. He was the biggest puppy in the litter and tipped the scales at 96lbs at 9 mo! Sadly he disappeared from his owner’s yard near Union City California. He was possibly stolen. His owners kept up a vigilant search of their local shelters and Veterinary Hospitals. But to date Tank has not been found. His microchip # is 081310316. We still hope and pray that some day he will come home safely. His is registered with AVID and I am down as a secondary contact. Where ever he is we hope he is safe and happy.

AVALON'S MIGHTY WOLVERINE AKA: LOGAN (6/21/04 - )

Logan

Logan was from my first litter. He was my last pup to go to his new home. The Whitmer family were wonderful owners and loved Logan very much! He was a sweet, happy go lucky guy, who, like his sister Rogue loved everybody he met. He and Greg were inseparable. Greg even risked his own life to save him when Logan decided to go for a swim near a PG@E dam and almost got sucked in. Greg jumped in to save him and they both got safely to shore. Sadly in March of 2006 Logan was diagnosed with bone cancer in his left ribs. Unfortunately his owners were unable to spring for the radical treatment necessary to save him. We lost Logan in late May/early June of 2006. We are all heartbroken by his loss. I spent a lot of time with Logan and his family going for walks and to the snow. His loss is still felt strongly to this day. We miss him dearly.
